Lesson 18: Come Out, My People!

"Come out of her My People!"

Revelation 18:4

This session deals with the call of Revelation chapter 18 to "come out of Babylon."  This is a call to sincere hearted believers in all denominations.

1.  What did John see come down from heaven?  See verse 1 of chapter 18.

Answer: .

This angel joins the three angels mentioned in chapter 14.  This one comes to help finish the Lord’s work on the earth!

2.  What does this angel have, and what happens to the earth when he comes?  See verse 1 again.

Answer: This angel has ; and the was with his .

This angel will add power to the three angel’s messages.  The whole earth will hear the truth that you have been studying, and the issues in the great controversy between Christ and Satan will be made clear!

3.  This angel cries out "mightily” and with a "strong voice."  What does he say about Babylon?  See verse 2.

Answer: He says " the is , is !"

This angel represents God’s remnant church telling the world that the churches of Babylon are twice fallen. It will not be a pleasant message to the members of the Babylonian churches, or to their members!  We can expect that they will vehemently oppose this message!

4.  How far has Babylon fallen?  What will it eventually become? See verse 2 again.

Answer: The of , and the hold of every , and a cage of every and hateful .

As the churches of the land depart from God’s truth they will continue in the downward slide until they eventually become the home of foul spirits and hateful abominations! In fact, already the foul spirit of homosexuality has been allowed in some churches where they now have ordained ministers who are lesbians and homosexuals! Many churches and ministries have already been polluted with the foul spirit of lust that has brought down some popular TV evangelists. We should expect to see more and more of these abominations. And as we do, God’s truth will become clearer and will grow to a ‘loud cry!’

Also, notice that there are still ‘unclean’ birds in the end of time! The distinction between clean and unclean foods is found in Leviticus chapter 11 and Deuteronomy 14.  This distinction will exist to the time of the coming of Christ.  See Isaiah 66:15-17.  For this reason, the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church do not eat unclean foods.  In fact, many are vegetarians and eat the diet God originally gave to mankind.  See Genesis 1:29.

5.  What does the Lord say to His people in these fallen churches? See verses 3-4.

Answer: " out of , My ."

God is right now calling people out of Babylon, out of confusion, commandment breaking, and away from the false doctrines of the Roman beast!  Have you heard the call?  Listen!  God is most definitely calling you!

6.  Why does God not want His people to remain in Babylon?  See verses 4-5.

Answer: He does not want them to be of her or to receive of her .

‘Sin is the transgression of the law’ it says in 1 John 3:4.  By remaining in Babylon, even sincere, born again Christians would be sinning by breaking His Sabbath commandment!  Since it was Babylon the great that changed God’s law, she will receive the plagues.  Remember the plagues fall on those who receive the ‘mark of the beast’ -- the false Sabbath day, and who become part of the church state image now being formed in America!  See chapter 16, verse 2 again.

7.  Why does God bring these tribulations upon Babylon?  See verses 6-7.

Answer: Because she , and lived . She said in her , "I a , and am no , and shall no ."

Her ‘delicious’ living and proud boasting and self glory has been an insult to heaven and the Lord of glory.  All who glorify themselves and do not humbly come to the cross of Christ and in childlike faith lay hold of His word are part of Babylon the Great!

8.  What will be the time span when Babylon and her daughters receive the plagues?  See verse 8.

Answer: They come in .

If we use the year for a day formula, then it would mean that it would take one year for these plagues to be poured out!  If this is the case, what a year this will be for Babylon and those who follow her!

9.  The whole world bewails the fall of that great city, the city of Rome!  It will be a shock when this great city is brought down! How long will it take for Rome to receive her judgments?  See verses 9-10.

Answer: .

We do not know if this merely means a short time or if it will be literally 15 days, which is what an hour is in prophetic time! (day = year).  Whatever it means, judgment upon her will be quick and decisive, and by the hand of God!

10.  According to Revelation 18, verses 11 through 19, what can we say about the finances of Babylon before her fall?

Answer: She was very !

The treasures of the Vatican are worth billions of dollars in art work alone!  Never mind the gold and other treasures that she has!  Surely she is rich beyond measure!  No other church on earth has a city that is as rich or as treasured by the world as Vatican City in Rome!  That’s why the whore has a ‘golden cup’ in her hand in Revelation 17, verse 4.

11.  What should the people of God do when they see her downfall?  See verse 20.

Answer: with the apostles and prophets!

12.  How will Babylon’s great city be thrown down?  See verse 21.

Answer: with .

We do not know if this is done through warfare, or through some other means, but we do know that it will be violent judgments that are heaven sent.  For it is the Lord who ‘avenges’ His people through her judgments!

13.  What are some of the things that will no longer be in Babylon’s great city after it is destroyed?  See verses 22-23.

Answer: The following people will be out of work: the , , , and .  No one will light a , and the voice of the and will not be heard in her churches anymore!

14.  What is one of the chief methods the Roman Church has used to deceive the nations?  See verse 23, the last part.

Answer: By her .

This again indicates that false ‘miracles’ will be seen in the Babylonian churches!  For example, on Monday, July 11, 1994, the following story was reported in the Chicago Tribune.

CICERO, Ill. - A car pulled up to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Cicero.  A man stepped from the car, fell to his knees in front of the church and began to pray, paying homage to the home of the icon that appears to be weeping.

For the church's pastor, Rev. Nicholas Dahdal, the event was another reminder of what a special place St. George’s has become in the nearly three months since an icon of the Virgin Mary holding the Baby Jesus in the church appeared to be weeping.  Interest has continued since huge crowds first gathered at the church, 1220 60th Ct.

"I have to keep my church open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, because people continually are coming to visit," Dahdal said. "It’s a shrine." ...

The visitors seek an anointment by the holy tears, which have fallen continuously from the face of the icon since April 22, 1994. To spread the supply of tears, the parish mixes the tears with olive oil.  More than 100,000 cotton swabs dipped in oil have been distributed by the parish to visitors, Dahdal said.

Such things will continue as the miracle working power of demons is made manifest to deceive the nations of the earth.  These false miracles are done to give more credibility to Babylon the Great and the fallen Protestant churches that will form an image to the Roman beast!  Hang on to your hats and trust in the word of God only!

15.  Why is Babylon the Great so despised by the God of heaven? See verse 24.

Answer: "In her was found the of , and of , and of all that were upon the ."

The tears and moans and pain of God’s millions of faithful ones may have been forgotten today by the world, and the record of these murders blotted out from modern history books, but Yahweh, the Sovereign Lord of heaven remembers their pain, and He will avenge them when He judges Babylon the Great!

Bonus Study On Righteousness By Faith

1.  We receive righteousness by God’s grace through faith in what Jesus has done.  No works we can do can merit salvation! See Ephesians 2:8-9 and Philippians 3:7-9.

2.  It is not our obedience that saves us, but rather Jesus’ perfect obedience credited to us by faith!  Jesus is the only One who has perfectly obeyed God’s law, and lived sinless!  See Romans 5:19.

3.  When we finally begin to obey God fully, we earn nothing; we should have been doing that all along!  See Luke 17:7-10.

4.  No deeds of “righteousness” that we have done can ever earn us merit toward salvation.  It is Jesus’ righteousness that saves us. His righteousness must cover us because our righteousness is like filthy rags!  See Isaiah 64:6.

5.  The Lord alone is our righteousness!  See Jeremiah 23:6.

6.  We have been “justified freely” through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus!  He has already paid the price for our ticket to heaven.  We must claim the ticket by receiving the salvation freely offered us!  Romans 3:24.

7.  Many are like the Jews in Paul’s day.  They are ignorant of God’s righteousness as a gift, and instead, go out and try to earn it with their own doings!  See Romans 9:31-32 and 10:3.

8.  But salvation by grace does not mean that we can sin willfully and still go to heaven!  If we fall into sin, we must confess and repent!  1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and 1 John 2:1.

Grace is not a license to sin!  Romans 6:14-15.

9.  We keep God’s commandments because we love Him, not so that we can be good enough to be saved!  Jesus has already paid the wages of sin for every man, women, and child who will accept the atonement by faith!  John 14:15 & 1 John 5:3.

10.  Christ is the “end” or goal (that’s what this word literally means) of the law for righteousness.  The law shows us our sin, but only Jesus’ blood can wash it away!  Romans 10:4 & 1 John 1:9.

11.  Jesus is acting as our “High Priest” in the heavenly sanctuary. He is ready to forgive us and apply the merits of His blood to our account!  Hebrews 8:1-3.

12.  The Lord will cover us with His perfect robe of righteousness if we are willing to accept it!  See Isaiah 61:10.

13. God’s grace is greater than all our sins!  Romans 5:20.
