Lesson 16: The Seven Last Plagues |
|
"For they are the spirits of devils doing miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of the great day of God Almighty." Revelation 16:15 |
This lesson deals with the two chapters in the book of Revelation that
depict the outpouring of the seven last plagues.
When these plagues fall, their combined effects will be the greatest disaster that
has
ever fallen on the earth!
1. What is filled up in the seven last plagues?
Revelation 15:1.
Answer: The of God.
2. Who are the ones that stand on the “sea of glass” and do not receive the
plagues?
See
verse 2.
Answer: They that had gotten the over the , and over his , and over his , and over the of his .

Here stand the spirit filled, obedient followers of the Lamb of God! They did
not worship the Roman Papal beast or the image of the beast.
This image of the beast, which we have already learned about, will be a last day
union of apostate Protestantism with the government of America enforcing Sunday
worship and other Roman Papal doctrines.
This will pave the way for other nations to follow "causing the world to worship
the first beast, which had the deadly wound and did live."
See
Revelation 13:14.
3. What are the victorious believers doing at this time? See verses 3-4.
Answer: They the of Moses and the , and they God!

Do you want to be in that number that sings this glorious song? Then be
faithful to God, accept Jesus as Lord and Master, and allow His
Spirit to work His will and pleasure in your heart! These studies you are doing
can be a major help in your understanding of these matters of
eternal importance!
4. Who did John see coming out of the temple in heaven? See
verses 5-6.
Answer: angels
5. What were these angels holding?
Same verses.
Answer: The last .
6. What were these seven angels clothed with?
Same verses.
Answer: Clothed in and linen, and having their girded with .

These angels were dressed like priests in the Old testament! See
Exodus 28.
They assist Jesus who is our High Priest in the heavenly sanctuary! See
Hebrews 8:1-2.
When these angels come out of the temple, it signifies that the work of intercession
is over!
It is then that the angels receive the seven vials filled with the wrath of
God!
This will be when man’s probation is over, when man’s destiny is forever
sealed!
There will be no more time to repent after that point! Verse 8 tells us that
“no man was able to enter into the temple" because the smoke of God’s glory fills
it.
No man is able to have his name in consideration before God any longer. The
plagues are about to be poured out!
It is too late! The decree of Revelation 22:11 will then be issued.
When this hour comes, it is a fearful time for those who have long neglected
God’s mercy!
7. When the first of the seven last plagues was poured out, what fell upon
those who had the mark of the beast and who
worshipped his image? See
Revelation 16:1-2.
Answer: A and .

These people had not heeded the warnings God gave the earth through His remnant
church!
Now they receive the punishment due to the disobedient!
8. What was affected by the second plague, and what was the result? See
Revelation 16:3.
Fill in: “And the second angel poured out his vial upon the ; and it became as the of a , and every living in the ."

This plague pollutes the waterways of the world! God allows it to become
stagnant and poisonous “like the blood of a dead man!”
The creatures that live in the sea die. Notice that the creatures are called
“souls.”
This shows us that the word soul does not mean immortal; in fact, never in the
Bible does it say the soul is immortal!
The word soul merely means a person or creature. We use the term today when
we call someone a “poor soul” etc.
It must be noted that these plagues are not universal; if they were, no one could
survive to see the coming of Jesus!
9. What happened when the third angel poured out his vial? See
verse 4.
Answer: The and became .

Even the fresh water is turned into blood! This reminds us of the plague
that fell upon the Egyptians before the Exodus!
In fact, these plagues resemble the judgments God sent upon Egypt before His
people
were freed from bondage to head for the promised land! We too, before we
embark on our journey to the heavenly Canaan will see the plagues
poured out, but we will be protected from them as the Hebrews were in Egypt!
See
Psalm 91:8-9 and
Exodus 8:22-23.
10. Why did the Lord give the beast and his followers blood to drink? See verses 5-7.
Answer: Because they have the of and !

Millions of saints were put to death at the hand of Rome and her legions.
And because of apostate Protestantism’s desire to kill those who refuse to receive
the mark of the beast, God holds them guilty as if they had done it!
They too must feel the effects of this plague.
11. What happened when the fourth plague was poured out? See
verse 8.
Answer: The was affected in such a way that it men with .

Some have seen in the depletion of the ozone layer a forerunner, preparing the
earth’s atmosphere for this plague!
12. What did people do when the sun scorched them? See
verse 9.
Fill in: “And men ... the of God, which hath over these ; and they not to give Him ."

These people do not repent because man’s probation is over, their cases are forever
sealed!
Many do not realize that when the Holy Spirit is withdrawn from the finally
impenitent, the real horror and
character of hearts controlled by sin will become painfully evident!
13. What happens to the kingdom of the beast when the fifth angel pours out
upon it the fifth plague? See
verses 10-11.
Answer: The beast’s kingdom was full of ; and it was a darkness that caused .
![]()
Verse 11 says that they still have the sores from the first plague upon them, and
now added to this is the plague of a painful darkness! This tells us that the plagues
fall in quick succession. The plague of the darkness is literal and in its absence of
light and heat there is a painful cold. The fact that it falls upon the “kingdom of
the beast” can mean literally upon Rome or the then present headquarters of Babylon
the Great and her daughters. It can also mean the whole world, since at that time
all but the remnant have been deceived by Babylon! Whatever the case, the people
of God will have light like the Hebrews did in the time of Egypt when the plague
of darkness fell on it. See
Exodus 10:22-23.
14. What was the focus of the sixth plague? See verse 12.
Answer: The .

To understand this plague, we must know a little about how ancient Babylon was
defeated by the forces of the Medes and Persians. Ancient Babylon was a mighty
fortified city with huge walls wide enough to ride four chariots abreast on top of
the walls! The forces of the Medes went against Babylon in the year 539 B.C. on the
Babylonian New Year’s Feast. The Babylonians were so secure within their mighty
walls that they went on with their feast as usual.
The leader of the Medes came up with a plan to drain off the waters of the Euphrates
River that ran directly underneath the great city. This was done a distance away from
the city. When the river was drained enough to ford, the soldiers marched directly
underneath the walls of Babylon. This would have been to no avail had the giant
bronze gates that were an added protection at the mouth of the river bed been
closed. But in a remarkable fulfillment of God’s prophetic word, the gates were not
shut that night! See
Isaiah 45:1.
That night Darius the Mede took the kingdom!
See
Daniel 5:30-31.
Since in the book of Revelation it is not literal Babylon, but rather spiritual Babylon that is the subject of the prophecy, it is probable that the drying up of the literal Euphrates River is not what happens as a result of the sixth plague. In Revelation “water” represents people. See Revelation 17:15.
The drying up of the river might be symbolic of the people withdrawing their support from spiritual Babylon! A modern army would not be hindered by a small river like the Euphrates! In Operation Desert Storm, thousands of troops and supplies crossed the ocean with ease! This sixth plague prepares the way for the army from heaven led by King Jesus which is the seventh plague for the wicked! It is Jesus and the armies from heaven that come from the east! See Matthew 24:27 and Ezekiel 43:2.
15. Just before the return of Jesus, what helps gather all the nations together to fight against God’s people, His law and His word? See Revelation 16, verse 14.
Answer: The of work to together the kings of the for the Battle of the great day of God Almighty!

These three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the "dragon, the
beast, ... and the false prophet.” The dragon we know is the devil. He adds his
spiritualistic power to this apostate religio-political church. The beast is Rome
and her dominions and the “false prophet” represents apostate Protestantism.
This tells us that there will be false, deceiving miracles that will be done in the
name of the Lord! These miracles will deceive the whole world! We must be careful
that we do not judge truth by so called miracles! Truth is judged by the word of
God! These false miracles and communications from beyond will cause the nations
to gather together against the Lord in the person of His people and His law.
They will then try to enforce the mark of the beast, threatening death to all who
do not comply! This is the Battle of Armageddon!
The seventh plague is the coming of Jesus, when there will be a “voice out of
the temple in heaven saying, ‘It is done!’" There will be lightning, thunder, and
great hail from heaven! A great earthquake will move every mountain and island out
of its place! At that time the threefold union of Rome, spiritualism and apostate
Protestantism will be broken up forever! This is what the word of God means when it
says “the great city was divided into three parts." See
verses 17 through 21.
