Lesson 15: The Three Angels' Messages

"Worship Him that made heaven, and earth, the sea, and the fountains of water."

Revelation 14:7

This lesson deals with the three angels’ messages, the most important messages ever given to the world!  To heed them is life, to reject them is everlasting destruction.  Let’s now examine this important Bible chapter in the exciting book of Revelation!

1.  Who did John see standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb (Jesus)?  Revelation 14, verse 1.

Answer: The and and .

These are the ones who we spoke about in session 7.  They are the ones who will live through the time of the end and never see death because they will see Jesus return!  The 144,000 are God’s perfected people who are so close to the Lamb that they have gotten the victory over the beast, his mark and his name!  They have put on the character of Christ and are victorious!  You and I may be one of this group if we are faithful and allow the Lord to do a complete work in us!

2.  What did John see written in the foreheads of the 144,000? See Rev: 14:1 again.

Answer: The .

This can have two meanings.  First of all, they know who the God they worship is!  In the Bible, the most often used title for the Father is Yahweh!  This is found some 2000 times in the Bible.  In the King James Version, it is translated LORD in capital letters to let you know that in the Hebrew, the letters YHWH (pronounced YAH-WAY) are found there.  If we take the verse literally, for what it actually says, then it means that the people on the earth in the last days will know the name of God in their minds.  A second meaning to having the ‘Fathers name written in their foreheads’ could mean they have the character of God.  They have characters that are Christ like.  They keep the Father ever in their minds as Jesus did!

3.  Who are the only ones who sing the song John heard in heaven?  Rev. 14:2-3.

Answer: The and .

They have an experience like no others who have ever lived on earth!  They go through the final scenes, and it appears that they never see death because they are translated to heaven along with the righteous that are sleeping in their graves when Jesus returns! They are seen standing on Mount Zion with Jesus before God’s throne, which Psalm 11:4 says is in heaven!

4.  What does Rev. 14:4 say about the 144,000?

Answer: They are and follow the wherever He goes!

The 144,000 do not have a sinful relationship with the "great harlot" that is mentioned in the book of Revelation.  See Rev. 17:1-2.   They spiritually are virgins in the sense that they do not commit spiritual fornication!  This does not mean that they are literally unmarried men and women!  The 144,000 follow the lamb wherever He goes.  In these last days the only safety is to stay close to the Lamb like the 144,000!

5.  What else did John say about the 144,000?  See Rev. 14:5.

Fill in: ‘In their mouth was found ; for they are before the throne of God.’

The 144000 are faultless!  They have put on the character of Christ and are filled with His righteousness, and they have gotten the victory!  They show the world that it is possible, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to perfectly obey the commandments of God!  See Jude 24 for the promise that we too can claim!

6.  While the members of the remnant church on earth are growing in grace and perfecting their characters through the ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary, what does John see in heaven?  See Rev. 14:6.

Answer: Another flying in having the to preach unto them that on the earth.

The three angel’s messages are symbolic for messages God has for the earth in these last days!  Angels do not preach the gospel, men do!  The ‘everlasting gospel’ is first and foremost in all ages, for without an understanding of the gospel, no one can be saved! So the true people of God in the last days will uphold and preach the gospel first and foremost!

7.  What other things was this angel saying in a LOUD voice?  See Rev. 14:7.

Answer: " God, and give to Him; for the of His is come; and Him that heaven, and , and the , and the of ."

This angel which is symbolic of messages God’s true church will deliver to the world in these last days has some very distinctive parts in addition to the ‘everlasting gospel.’  First of all the world is reminded to "fear God."  The word translated ‘fear’ in this verse is the Greek word ‘phobeo’ from which we get the word ‘phobia.’  It means ‘to fear or reverence or be in awe of.’  How appropriate that in this generation, when reverence and fear for God is almost non-existent that the Lord’s church reminds the world that Yahweh, the God of heaven is a great and awesome God and not One to be trifled with!

Besides preaching the everlasting gospel, and telling the world to fear God, this first angel says ‘give glory to Him.’  All glory and honor to Him that saved us!  One of the ways we can give glory to God is by the way we take care of our body!  1 Corinthians 10:31 says, ‘Whatsoever ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.’  So God’s remnant church will have a message about diet and health!  The Seventh-day Adventist Church has from its very beginning taught this truth!

A fourth part of this first angel’s message is the announcement that ‘the hour of His judgment is come.’  In order to announce that this hour has come, the people of God must know when it began!  The Advent Movement has properly understood the prophecy of Daniel chapter 8 which foretold when the heavenly sanctuary would begin to be cleansed from the record of the sins of God’s people.  This began in 1844 when the time mentioned in Daniel 8:14 commenced.  Review session 10 again to refresh your mind with the prophecy of Revelation chapter 10.  This foretold the rise of the Advent Movement and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Another part of this first angel’s message is the command to ‘worship Him that MADE heaven and earth, the sea and the fountains of water.’  This statement mirrors the statement found in Exodus chapter 20, verse 11 where the Lord gives us the reason for keeping the Seventh-day Sabbath holy!  The Seventh-day Sabbath was given as a memorial of creation.  We cannot ‘worship Him who MADE heaven and earth’ if we do not keep the Seventh-day Sabbath, because the Sabbath was made as a memorial to the Creator’s work of creation!  So the true church in the end of time will tell the world to ‘worship’ the Creator by remembering His holy Sabbath day!  Have you made the decision yet to worship the Creator by keeping His Sabbath in accordance with the fourth of the Ten Commandments?  If not, why not start obeying God in this matter today!

8.  What message does the second angel of Revelation chapter 14 bring to the world?  (See Revelation 14:8)

Fill in: " is , is , that great , because she has made all drink of the of the of her ."

This is a message that tells the world the great Roman harlot and those churches that follow her doctrine have ‘fallen’ from truth into error.  Notice it is TWICE fallen!  It fell when it became the apostate Roman church, and it fell a second time when Protestantism began to compromise truth and drink the wine of false doctrines!  In the last days, the ‘wrath’ of her ‘fornication,’ that is, her union of church and state, will be felt by all the world when the mark of the beast (the false sabbath) is enforced by law!

9.  What fearful message does the ‘third angel’ (symbolic of God’s last day remnant church) bring to the world?

Answer: He brings a warning about the and his .

This is perhaps the most fearful warning found in the Bible, and it is a warning against following Rome’s false doctrines and her false sabbath (Sunday), that she says is the ‘mark of her authority’ as we quoted to you in our last session!  This is a serious matter, and those who close their ears to this message will bring terrible judgments upon themselves!  God means what He says, and in love He gives us warnings so that we would not be deceived about these important matters!  Notice also that the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been bringing this message to the world! Not too many other churches point out the truth about the beast and his mark!  But God’s remnant church is not afraid to speak the third angel’s message!

10.  How does the Lord contrast the "saints" versus those who receive the mark of the beast?  See Rev. 14:12.

Answer: The saints have ‘patience’ and they also the of God!

This shows us very clearly that the mark of the beast will involve deception over one of the commandments of God.  This is why the Lord says here, right after the warning about the mark of the beast, ‘here are they that KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD!’ This tells us that those who receive the mark of the beast are somehow being deceived over one of God’s commandments.  The only one that many Christian churches are deceived about is the fourth one, the one about the Seventh-day Sabbath!  And this is the one the Roman Catholic Church changed WITHOUT any biblical authority!

11. What does the true church in the end of time teach about the dead?  Where are they?   See Rev. 14:13.

Answer: "... Blessed are the who in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the , that they may from their ; and their do them."

The true church in the end of time teaches that the dead REST from their labors awaiting the resurrection when Jesus returns! Again the Seventh-day Adventist Church rings true and teaches this truth!  See Psalm 115:17, Ecclesiastes 9:6, and 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 now.

12.  What follows immediately after these messages are given to the whole world?  See Rev. 14:14.

Answer: The of Man comes seated on a . He has on His head a , and in His hand a .

This symbolizes Jesus' coming to the earth to reap the harvest! When the true gospel is preached to all the world, then the end shall come! See Matthew 24:14.

13. Why does the angel who comes out of the temple in heaven say it is time to reap the earth? See Revelation 14:15.

Answer: Because the of the earth is .

In farming, the early rain starts the seeds growing and the ‘latter rain’ at harvest time ripens the crops for the harvest. It is the same way with spiritual matters! The early rain is that born again experience like the day of Pentecost in the early church. The latter rain will be the Holy Spirit’s power that will finish the work of God’s church on the earth and ‘ripen’ the people of God for the harvest! Verses 17 through 20 tell of the harvest of the wicked who also reach a point where God decides they are ‘ripe’ for destruction! They are the grapes of wrath!
