Christian Stewardship
Bible Marking Assignment Lesson 8
|
If the Lord gave us His Son, He would not hold back anything
from us. Everything belongs to
God, yet He is always giving to us His blessings. The Godhead loves
when we
cheerfully give to Their cause on the earth. God is the One who gives
us
“power to make wealth,” and yet so many
often forget His cause, and His church! The Lord should always get
the
“first fruits” of our increase or profit. |
See Romans 8:32, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, Psalm 24:1, Deuteronomy
8:18, and Proverbs 3:9-10.
The Bible says that the “tithe” (one tenth) of our increase belongs
to Yahweh.
It is to be returned to Him to sustain His work on the earth. When we do not
return to the Lord His tithe, or
when we refuse to give freewill offerings to support His work, He looks upon it as
robbery!
See Malachi 3:8-10, Leviticus 27:32, and Numbers 18:21.
Those who preach the gospel ought to be supported by the tithes of God’s church
members. God’s church should not have to have ham sales or bingo games to
raise money
for His great work! The Lord wants us to trust Him to supply what we need.
If we put the
Lord first, He will supply all our needs in Christ Jesus. Jesus reminded us
not to neglect
tithe paying.
See 1 Corinthians 9: 13-14, Matthew 6:33, Philippians 4:19, and Matthew 23:23.
If we do not support the Lord’s cause, and selfishly try to keep all our increase
to
ourselves, it will be like putting money into a bag with holes in it. God
cannot bless
stealing or selfish living. The best place to build a bank account is in heaven,
not on the
earth where it can be easily lost or stolen.
See Haggai 1:4-9 and Luke 12:33-34.
If we do wrong, and use God’s tithe for ourselves, we are to pay it back, and add
a fifth
(20%) to it. By the way, the Lord does not just want us to give of our money
to His cause,
He also needs our time! We should work for His church, and His work, and for
our
fellow man, giving a tithe of our time as well!
See Leviticus 27:31, Ephesians 5:16, Acts 1:8, and Matthew 4:19.
Jesus commanded the demon-possessed man, whom He had set free, to return home
and
give his testimony to his family and friends about how God was merciful to
him.
Every Christian is given the same instructions! This takes some of our
time!
See Luke 8:38-40 and Psalm 126:5-6.
