Michael's Story

When I was a pastor of a church in North Carolina, I began this lay training program.  In one of my classes, there was a couple named Tom and Dessie.  In their search for souls, they remembered a young man by the name of Michael.   They began talking to him, and one day actually brought him to my office so tat I could speak to him.

I saw a young, handsome man being gently pulled into my office by Dessie.  She said I needed to talk to Michael.  I shared a little of my own story with him, and how Jesus has changed my life.  Michael them told me about his own life.  Family members had abused him in every manner. Although a young man, he was already divorced, and he was on drugs.  He had various traumas and fears.  Once when a well meaning Christian warned him about going to hell, Michael said, “I already live in hell!”

I had prayer for him.  I offered to lead him in the prayer of faith to accept Jesus as His personal Lord and Savior. But he wasn’t ready for that yet.  I gave him a Bible and a few copies of the Good News About God’s Truths Bible Studies.

I continued to pray for him as Tom and Dessie let Jesus’ love shine through them.  Not long afterward, Michael called me late one night.  He was ready to give his heart to the Lord?  I led him through the same prayer of F.A.T.E. you will learn in this program, and the Lord did a miracle in Michael’s life!  Today Michael is one of the best gospel workers.  He went through the training.  He has been reconciled with his family.  He is one of the best workers for a lumber company owned by a member.  And when Michael tells his story, he gives glory to King Jesus!

Ordinary people turned gospel workers named Tom and Dessie took a few minutes of their time to meet Michael at a crucial crossroad and led him to Jesus’ church, and to Jesus!   Imagine that!  Spending a few minutes working for Jesus, and changing a young man’s destiny forever, and who knows how many lives Michael will touch for Jesus! Dear gospel worker, never get weary, or discouraged working for souls!  For Christ’s sake, don’t ever!
