Bible Marking Assignment
Lesson 1
We cannot be good enough to be saved, for we all have sinned and all short of the glory of God.
We are saved by God’s grace, which is His unmerited favor towards us. If we could have been
saved by simply obeying the law of God, then Jesus would have died in vain.
Romans 3:23, Galatians 2:21 & Ephesians 2:8-9.
Sin is breaking or transgressing God’s law. Since we “all have
sinned," we owe the “wages of sin,” which the Bible says is
"death." But we can choose to let Jesus’ death on Calvary’s cross
count as payment for our sins. This is God’s gift to all who will accept it.
1 John 3:4 & Romans 6:23.
We must be born again before we can “see” the kingdom of God. God’s Word tells us
that if we confess our sins, Jesus forgives AND cleanses us from sin’s penalty and power!
John 3:3 & 1 John 1:9.
In Old Testament times, unblemished lambs and other sacrifices were offered on the altar
for the forgiveness of sins. These sacrifices, and their shed blood pointed forward to Jesus
-- the real “LAMB of God” who has made provision for the sins of the world!
Leviticus 3:7-8 & John 1:29.
When a person receives Jesus Christ as his or her personal Lord and Savior, he or she
becomes a new person in Christ. Old things pass away, and all things become new!
We
can know for sure -- right now -- that we have eternal life! Through Him we have peace
with God!
2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 John 5:9-13, & Romans 5:1.
If we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart that God has raised
Him from the dead, we will be saved! Jesus is right now asking us to open the door of our
hearts to Him! He wants us to ask Him to forgive us of our sins and accept Him as our
Lord and Savior! When we do this, we will not only be forgiven, but we will receive
eternal life!
Romans 10:9, and Revelation 3:20.
The Lord also wants us to “grow in grace.” This we do by feeding on the pure
“milk of the Word” of God!
2 Peter 3:18 & 1 Peter 2:2.
