Lesson 17: The Good News about Morality |
![]() |
Although the subject of sex and immorality is a hard subject
to discuss and causes some to be embarrassed and uncomfortable,
it is a subject that needs to be included in any series of modern Bible
studies because of the perversions of the age. |
With such an unhealthy emphasis on unbridled sex and loose morals in many of the
movies, videos, television programs, advertising, and
music of today, is it any wonder that we are seeing an unprecedented increase in
AIDS, teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted
diseases, suicide, and general immorality?
In the modern order of things, the god of this world seeks to make it appear that
morality and virginity are ‘uncool’ or ‘abnormal’!
The modern media make it seem as if "everybody" is involved in
fornication, casual sex, and adultery.
But in actuality, the polls indicate that the majority of even unbelievers are
not involved in
immoral sex!
The Lord who created man ordained the act of intercourse between a man and a
woman as the highest expression of sexual love between a
husband and wife. This beautiful act is a coming together of husband and
wife to enjoy intimacy and also a sacred act in the process of
procreation.
In these last days of earth's history that we live in, the sex act for many has
been perverted to merely an act conducted for the pleasure and lust of it while
the true God ordained purpose of this act is nearly
obliterated by the excesses of the day! Sex without moral guidelines
is glorified in nearly all quarters of modern secular society.
1. In ancient times, what object did the sun worshippers set up which Yahweh
said he ‘hated’?
Ezekiel 8:5.
Answer: It was called an of
.

This image was a phallic figure. In other words, it was a representation of
the male sex organ! Ancient worship was a very immoral and sexually oriented
religion. It is interesting that many of the movie actors, actresses, rock stars
and entertainers are heavily involved in the "New Age Movement" which is just
reincarnated sun-worship! Is it any wonder then that the movies, music, and media
are so filled with a preoccupation with illicit sex? Some rock groups even have
miniature phallic images on the stage when they perform!
2. Who did Balaam in ancient times use to entice the people to commit fornication
and separate themselves from God?
Numbers 31:15-17.
Answer: the .
![]()
Balaam used sex to sell the idea of disobedience to Yahweh! Ellen White,
commenting on this verse wrote the following in Spiritual Gifts, Volume IV,
page 49:
"Balaam knew that the prosperity of Israel depended on their
observance of the law of God, and that there was no way to bring a curse upon
them but by seducing them to transgress ... He decided to secure to himself
Balak's reward, and the promotion he desired, by advising the Moabites what
course to pursue to bring the curse upon Israel. He counseled Balak to proclaim
an idolatrous feast in honor of their idol gods, and he would persuade the
Israelites to attend, that they might be delighted with the MUSIC, and then the
most beautiful Midianitish women should entice the Israelites to transgress the
law of God ... This satanic counsel succeeded TOO WELL ... Many of the Israelites
were persuaded by Balaam, because they regarded him as a prophet of God, to join
him ... and engage with him in ... fornication."

Sexual enticement to break God’s law is Satan's plan, and it
works ‘too well’! He is still using this highly effective plan today. He is still
enticing men and women of all ages to commit sexual immorality through pornography,
sexually explicit music videos, films, and literature! Modern day Balaams are still
leading others to view the modern day, half naked dancing Midianite women gyrating
to music at concerts and on music videos seen on television!
Today, fornication and adultery are looked upon by many as sins that God winks at,
but that is far from the case! Even so, there are many who are looking for true
fulfillment and realize that happiness does not lie in the lifestyle glorified so
often today, but rather in a solid home and family life guided by God’s
principles!
3. What does the Lord say about Himself in
Malachi 3:6?
Answer: I am the Lord, I not.
![]()
What was sin to the Lord 100 years ago is sin to Him today! His
principles and holy character do not change! His law does not change with
the morals of a wicked and perverse society! The wages of sin is still death!
The Bible uses the word "fornication" when speaking about sexual
immorality. By definition the word means ‘sexual intercourse between a man
and woman NOT MARRIED to each other.’ It is illicit sexual intercourse outside of
marriage. For those who cheat on their spouses, adultery and fornication are one
and the same, and they will receive the same judgment!
Sexual immorality is a serious sin in God's sight because it attacks the family,
which is the very core of a happy life for His children. So serious is the sin of
immorality in God’s sight that those who practice it will be excluded from heaven
and eternal life! Read
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 now.
The Bible plainly teaches that all who will not repent of the sin of
fornication, and who continue in it will be OUTSIDE the city of God!
The "everybody’s doing it" excuse holds no weight with God! It is amazing
that few people will consider driving a car without a license or permit because
they know they will be in trouble with the law as set forth by man, yet many of
these same people do not fear to have sex with others without the marriage
license! They have no fear of breaking God’s holy law! How foolish such
reasoning is!
4. What should we NOT follow a multitude to do?
Exodus 23:2.
Answer: .
5. What does the Lord say we should do regarding fornication?
1 Corinthians 6:18.
Answer: from it.

Flee fornication. Do not stop for one moment to reason. Do not stop to argue
the case with your weak conscience. Turn away from the first step of
transgression!
6. What is our body?
1 Corinthians 6:19.
Answer: The
of the .
7. What are we supposed to do with our bodies?
Verse 20.
Answer: God.

What a brazen sin it would be to enter a church and perform a lewd, sinful act
right on the altar where Yahweh, the great and Holy One is worshipped! Yet, when
men and women use their bodies for immorality, they are committing a greater act
of desecration! In fact, 1 Corinthians 6:15 tells us that when we sin with our
bodies, we are making Christ a part of our immorality!
8. What is the body NOT FOR?
1 Corinthians 6:13.
Answer: .
9. What will happen to those people who continue to use their bodies for either
adultery, fornication, perverted acts, etc.
1 Corinthians 3:17-18.
Answer: They will be !

As was already mentioned, sexual intercourse is reserved by God
for the marriage relationship between a man and a woman. It is a beautiful,
fulfilling, deep expression of true love that is blessed and ordained by God.
Without the benefit of marriage before God and before witnesses, the act of sexual
intercourse is a sin even if the two engaging in this act feel that they love one
another! And when the act is done merely for gratification, the beauty and
significance of this God-ordained intimacy is lost and the act is reduced to
the animal level!
10. What will the Lord do to fornicators and adulterers?
Hebrews 13:4.
Answer: them.
![]()
In God’s sight there is no such thing as ‘casual sex.’ He takes the act very
seriously! Only true repentance, and a turning away from the sins of fornication,
adultery, and all immorality will lead to forgiveness!
11. Will adulterers and fornicators enter the kingdom of God?
Galatians 5:19-21.
Answer: .
12. What will those who give themselves over to fornication and immorality suffer?
Jude 7.
Answer: the vengeance of .
13. What is God's will regarding fornication?
1 Thessalonians 4:3.
Answer: That we from it.

ABSTAIN means choosing not to take part in this sin! The Lord will give all
who desire it power to be victorious over every kind of immorality! See
1 Corinthians 10:13.
14. Does the Bible even tell us not to be friends with, or hang around those who commit fornication? 1 Corinthians 5:11.
Answer: .
![]()
Virginity is not something to be ashamed of as the devil would have many
believe! It is something to be cherished until marriage and once lost, can never
be regained! Many are throwing away their purity and innocence haphazardly! It is
a precious thing in God’s sight, and in the sight of His people.
In order to ‘flee fornication’ and sexual immorality, it is necessary to avoid
friends who think lightly of this sin. We should avoid music, television programs,
and movies that exalt this sin or encourage it. Sin is NEVER fun in God’s sight and
unrepented of, will most assuredly lead to perdition!
Young and old alike should be wise enough to avoid ‘setting themselves up’ by
being alone with others of the opposite sex in intimate situations. Unmarried
persons should avoid ‘petting,’ ‘French kissing,’ or any other kind of sexual
contact. These things are intimate preliminaries to the act of intercourse in
marriage. It is not normal boyfriend and girlfriend stuff regardless what the media
says! We are not to trust our lower nature!
15. When "lust" is conceived, what will it ultimately lead to?
James 1:14-18.
Answer: and
.
![]()
Men and woman should not seek to ‘entice’ the opposite sex by the way they act,
dress, etc.
16. If we have been guilty of this sin, what promise do we have if we confess and
forsake it?
1 John 1:9.
Answer: The Lord will us!
17. Mary Magdalene was an adulteress. Jesus forgave her. But what did He also
tell her to do?
John 8:11.
Answer: Go and no more!
![]()
May that be our experience by the power of God! Only Jesus can give us this
power. If you don’t know Him yet, why not pray right now to accept Him into your
life as Lord and Savior?
